What Mungo Dunnett Associates delivered The MDA team was selected for their combination of expertise in academic environments, business strategy, operations, and commercial/leisure activities A series of detailed interviews were carried out with key stakeholders within faculty, the student body and the SA management team The financial performance was fully evaluated Detailed assessment made of the commercial activities, their marketing strategy, operational effectiveness, day-to-day management and cost efficiency The relationship between the SA and the University faculty was assessed in terms of its organisational coherence, financial and managerial processes, checks and controls, and the effectiveness and productiveness of the interaction between the key stakeholders A detailed report was produced, highlighting the structural, operational, managerial, strategic and process areas requiring improvement, and identifying the activities and personnel key to the future effective operation of the SA and its ongoing interaction with the University Specific comment was made on the SA’s various commercial activities, the means by which these could deliver greater profitability, and the areas on which the SA should most profitably focus its efforts Specific recommendations were made concerning the key areas of possible future investment in the SA and its infrastructure, with guidelines established for the sequencing and prioritisation of development activities Recommended means by which the funding could most effectively be raised for infrastructural development Recommended positioning of these action plans and process changes to all relevant parties, based on detailed consideration of stakeholders’ separate agendas and aspirations Specific recommendations as to the future working relationship and processes involving the SA and University, including the avoidance of duplicative functions, and enhancement of existing processes and financial controls |
